2007 Midtown Holiday Gathering and Walk-a-bout

If you haven’t been down the Plaza Court area in Midtown Oklahoma City recently, here’s your chance. The Oklahoma City Midtown Redevelopment Corporation is sponsoring the 2007 Midtown Holiday Gathering and Walk-a-bout on this coming Tuesday, December 11th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

This fantastic event gives you the chance to experience the rebirth going on in this area of Oklahoma City, and also to sample the cuisine from six restaurants in the Plaza Court area. Best of all — it’s free!

Here is info taken from the event’s publicity brochure:

“Please join us in the Plaza Court lobby just off of the 10th and Walker (map) round-a-bout as we celebrate more things Midtown. Renderings of Midtown development projects will be on display. Pick up your Midtown food tour name tag, have a beverage and chat in the Plaza Court lobby, then head out to visit and sample the offerings at six Midtown restaurants.

Join us in the lobby of the venerable Plaza Court for a beverage and some conversation then head out to sample a little Midtown cuisine. Start off at Irma’s Burger Shack for some Ahi Tuna grilled rare with Asian Slaw and smoked brisket. If possible, John McBryde will prepare some samples of the baked goods he will be offering at Prairie Thunder Bakery within the next few weeks … pending the arrival of the other two ovens. In any case, he’ll be on hand to share his plans and give tours of his fabulous kitchen. Always a light lunch favorite, Subway will offer finger food portions of their delicious sandwiches. Take the short walk north on Walker to 1492 New World Latin Cuisine where Arturo Chavez promises a mouth watering array of his specialties in tapas size portions. A few steps back south and across the street lands you at Café do Brazil where Anna will lay out a spread of several of her Brazilian inspired appetizers. Finish things off with a dip of ice cream at the Grateful Bean Café before stopping back by the lobby in Plaza Court for a night cap.”

Thanks for positing this info Tim. This is a great chance to check out the food from these Midtown restaurants and have a look at some of the development projects that will be displayed in the Plaza Court lobby. Hope you can drop by.

I can’t wait to see the renovated Plaza Court. This has been such a cornerstone location in Oklahoma City and it will be wonderful seeing it brought back to life. We’re seeing a great blend of foods coming into the MidTown area. Can’t wait to sample!

Good question, Sherie. I have sent an email to someone at the midtown group to see if I can find out. I will post as soon as I know. If anyone else knows, please post a comment.
