Bad news…. Drove by Bodensee on my way to work this morning and they are out of business.

3rd restaurant I’ve seen close their doors on south Western in the last couple of weeks.

I found this place on accident. I’d had a bad day at work and was heading to Braum’s for some ice cream to treat myself. I’m VERY happy I took the chance and stopped in.

Vanilla custard+amaretto flavoring=heaven. It is my default “I need a pick-me-up” spot now.

@Bizzle, nice report. I hope you’ll find the confidence to go in sometime. I’d love to hear your take. Just so you know, there’s a big menu on the wall where you can stand and evaluate your choices for as long as you need before ordering — without being in people’s way.

Okay, so I finally made it to this place. Not for the lunch combo, mind you. I sent the SO in for a to-go menu. The article and its many choices freaked me out and as to not appear as a freak, I wanted to have my choice made. Its a middle child thing…except I’m not a middle child. Anyway, he came back with a vanilla cheesecake custard and no to-go menu of course. They were either out or they don’t have them, but he didn’t inquire further. The Amadeus was vanilla custard with cheesecake chunks (real cheesecake here people) and topped with whipped cream and a bear cookie. It was 2.50, quite large for a small, and delish! I will be back…if I can get over my taking too long to make decisions thing.

I wish this place was located on the North side and it’s too bad that the location is kind of sketchy looking. We really like their frozen hot cocoa, but it’s takes forever to get there.

I live right around the corner from this place…I’ve often seen it and wondered how it competes with another frozen custard place so close by. I am SO going to have lunch there tomorrow!
