I took my wife to The Deep Fork Grill for Valentines day, to give her a fine dining experience, or to at least try as it turned out. They had a special choose 3 courses for $60, and we both chose this option. I had the lobster bisque, and my wife had a salad. She enjoyed her salad, but the bisque must have had something in it that mde the back of my throat tickle and made me cough,I did not finish it though the flavor was good. Out came the main course. Her filet was pretty good, but overcooked. My ribeye left me with the larget pile of gristle ever. The flavor was good, but the cut was poor. The whipped potatoes were good and so was the asparagus, but the presentation was terrible. She enjoyed her chocolate cake even though it was a tiny piece, and my cheesecake was bigger and tasty. We were both supposed to get a chocolate covered strawberry, but I assume that due to their poor planning we only ended up with a half. Our reservations were for 6 o'clock, so they should have had enough. I was not near impressed for what we paid and several times during the meal had wished we had gone to the Cimmaron Steakhouse, Cattlemans, or another similar restaurant. I went because of the good reviews I found while researching, but will not be back.

Just went here for the first time last Saturday night. Service was less than expected, the manager had to take our order because out waiter was taking so long. They did send out a complimentary crab cake because we told them it was our anniversary (well it was, we didn't just tell them that-haha. The crab cake and the little hor'dourves they bring out to everyone were fantastic. We ordered the calamari (before we knew we would be getting those things and the bread!) and it wasn't that great at all. I actually just gave up on it. BUT-our entrees were AMAZING. I had the salmon and it was delicious!!! It came with asparagus and risotto and was soooo good. I am kind of picky about salmon and it was perfect. My fiance got the lobster alfredo. It was also very good, all BIG chuncks of lobster so it was worth the extra cost. We will try them again for sure. The food made up for the service and I think it was just our waiter.

I haven't been in a while either. My guess is it is not the same since Chef Parrott left. If you want to spend $75 and be wowed, go to Table One.

@Josie, I'm sorry your experience wasn't as good as mine. I too had scallops and they were perfect when I had them. Of course, my last visit was a while back and things can certainly change over time. Thanks for giving us your perspective.

I'm a firm believer that it's okay to have expensive food when it's GOOD food. Deep Fork has the price tag of fine dining with food that doesn't even qualify as casual fine dining. I am obsessed with food, and Deep Fork was severely disappointing after reading the positive review.

I got the 4 courses (which are $75, including wine pairing), and the scallops in my first course were gritty with sand still.
My mom ordered her prime rib medium, and after three steaks, it still wasn't right. She gave up and just told the waitress she'd pay for it and not to worry.
The one redeeming factor was the waitress. She tried her best to make it up to us and comped my mom's steak. She even brought out three different desserts when she found out that I'm madly in love with chocolate.

I did have a wonderful salad as the second course; beef tenderloin with mixed greens, Canadian walnuts, green apple slices, tomatoes, and balsamic.

Overall, Deep Fork is far too expensive for what you get. On the weekends, it's a very loud restaurant, and I don't recommend paying big bucks to eat here!

My food took about 1.5 hours to come out and I complained to the server. The food that I got was also a bit cold because I'm sure it was sitting out for a while. Anyway, when time came to pay, the manager comped the meal AND gave us free dessert. NOW THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL SERVICE!!! I obviously had to give a nice tip, but that was the first time I left a restaurant and was totally wowed.

Great food, but sometimes I think they need to change their menu a little more often. Then seem to have fallen into a culinary rut.

However, try their catering service. Great prices and quality food!

This place flips on my list from 'top' to 'bottom' with almost each dining experience. Sometimes the food, service and surroundings are outstanding, at other times I find myself saying 'I won't be back'. About 2 weeks ago we had an 'outstanding lunch' there and unexpectedly chose to return for a dinner that night. The dinner experience was far from satisfactory. We both had the evening’s specials, the fish special flavorless and overcooked. The beef special was just the contrary....overly smoked, overly salty and well undercooked for 'specified cooking temperature'.

It’s hard to believe that we were eating dinner at the same place where we had enjoyed lunch. The culinary staff needs to do a better job at insuring that the food is consistently great, not just occasionally satisfactory.

Deep Fork is not the same restaurant as it used to be. The reason is clear--Chef Ryan Parrott is no longer a part of "The Deep Fork Group". He was truly the heart and soul of the restaurant. Their catering is totally different, too. Please contact me personally for more information.

I've had mixed experiences at the Deep Fork. Meals with my husband have been excellent and the wait staff always seems to have that just right mix of knowing when to be at your elbow when needed and out of sight when not. But one Christmas lunch with a group of women spoiled the Deep Fork for me and I haven't been back in a while. We seldom saw our waiter, our food was served too cold or too dry, and we went without drink refills and bread. Maybe the lesson to be taken away was to not go during the Christmas rush.

@Kevin, no they are not theme rooms. They are just some more private little dining areas -- booths that are sort of tucked into the wall so you feel set apart from the main dining area.

> atmosphere in the little rooms around the sides

Have yet to visit DFG. Is it a converted house, or are these a set of theme rooms like Gopuram, or what?

Deep Fork is my favorite restaurant. The food is always great. I eat there on Sundays quite a bit and love the menu. The atmosphere in the little rooms around the sides is so relaxing and special.

I have also eaten at Cafe Nova and feel the same about it. The food is different and wonderful.

I recently had the lemon chicken with cream sauce and a cup of the tomato crab bisque. Both were absolutely wonderful. My husband and I enjoyed a relaxed dinner in nice atmosphere. We plan to have dinner at the Deep Fork Grill again in the near future.

I was very diappointed with the trout I received. it was over cooked, dry, and hard. I did enjoy the cheese and fruit tray. I would think for the prices they charge the entrees would be much better. I can't remember what my husband ordered but he wasn't impressed with his choice either. We won't be going back.

I just had lunch there the other day and I agree, the portions can be a little too much. Had it not been a business lunch (and had it not been on someone else's generous dime), I would have jumped at the chance to have the chef choose for me. Maybe for my birthday, I can justify living that large for one meal.

Time and time again, Deep Fork Grill impresses me. From their outstanding food, to their ability to accommodate people with special requests (I’m a vegetarian), to their impeccable service, to their ability to handle very large groups, I am very impressed with Wade Starr and his restaurant. This is a place I use for my business lunches, nice dates, and catering functions. Deep Fork is the best of the best in Oklahoma City, and I cannot recommend a finer dining establishment in the city, let alone the state. Five out of Five stars in my book.
